Class four ended last week learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly. We learnt about the different stages a caterpillar goes through when turning into a butterfly.
We used pasta and paper plates to make a display showing the different stages a caterpillar goes through during metamorphosis.
We begun this week by learning about spiders and their webs. We researched spider webs and used our reading from Charlotte's Web to write a set of instructions to help a spider make a web. We then used string and lolly sticks or PVA glue to make our own spider webs.
We held a peedie competition to find a design we all liked for our minibeast hotel sign. The winners had to get straight to work making their design onto a piece of wood which will be placed outside.
We decided our spider webs looked quite empty without spiders on them...so we set about researching the features of arachnids and in particular, spiders. We then set about making 3D spiders which could hang from our webs.
On Friday morning we had a special visitor at our school. We had a whole school assembly to begin with where we were told a story using puppets. We all found the story very amusing!
Afterwards class four took part in a workshop where we were able to act out characters using the various puppets. We begun by picking a puppet to have a play with. We had to talk to it and then have a conversation with another puppet.
Once we were a bit more confident at using the puppets we started to tell the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. We all had a part to play.
The rats enjoyed a disco!!
Before being piped out of the town by the piper!!
After this we played the parts of a dragon story. It was great fun!
The wicked witch chased the dragons back to her home so the children could run free!!
We really enjoyed the puppet workshop.
