Class 4's trip

On Friday 10th October class 4 headed into Kirkwall to visit the King Street Dental Clinic, The Orkney Library and Tesco.  We learnt lots of different things about how to keep our Bodies Healthy.

We had our teeth checked by the dental nurses and found out why it is so important to brush our teeth regularly. We also had a peedie shot of practicing to brush our teeth using some teddies!
Then we headed to the Orkney Library to find books on the human body.  We also got to have a peek in the back of the library at the storage areas!
We got ourselves comfy and enjoyed reading some books before heading to Tesco.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Tesco filled with fruit, vegetables and healthy soup.
Laura then took us around various parts of the shop so we could see where the healthy foods for our bodies were located.
We even got a sneak preview of the storage area here too...but it was freezing in the fridge!!

Class four had a fantastic trip and would like to thank all the people in the local community who showed us around their businesses.

Gangsta Granny activities

After finishing our class novel Gangsta Granny class four took part in some activities related to the novel. We were set a challenge to make a new mobility scooter for granny and some new outfits for Ben's dance competition.  We had great fun using our imaginations!

Taste buds

Class four have been learning how taste buds work. We tried various different foods with our eyes closed. We had to think carefully about the taste and texture each food had.

Our senses - Touch

Class four have been learning about our senses. We have been working on touch this week so we decided to explore different textures of materials. We are now working in groups to design a book for pre school aged children which will have different textures and things for them to touch inside.  Watch this space for our finished books!

A Working Lung

Class four have been busy learning about the human lungs. We followed a set of instructions carefully which allowed us to make our own working lung.  It was a bit tricky but we helped each other to put the finishing touches together.  Once we had made them we discussed all the uses of the lung and how they work within our bodies.

Gangsta granny

Class four have been thoroughly enjoying reading Gangsta Granny by David Walliams as our class novel. We worked in groups to design posters telling people about the novel.  Some of us have chosen to use our independent study time to make some puppets from the novel. Were hoping they will put on a puppet show for the rest of the class.

Our finished skeletons

Class four have been busy adding the finishing touches to our skeletons! We managed to add in various organs too!!
