Term 4 Week 6

This week class four have been busy learning about food chains. We learnt about consumers, predators and prey.  We found out that some animals can be both predators and prey.

We made paper chains then added illustrations to show the different types of animals in a food chain.

We have also been busy learning about flies and insects this week.  We learnt about the different parts of an insects body and constructed our own 3D flies to hang in the classroom.  We had to be careful that we had the correct body parts of the fly on the correct section; the head, the thorax and the abdomen.

Some of the children in class four helped to make a wormery for our classroom this week.  We read the instructions carefully then worked together to follow them.

We made layers of compost and sand.

We added in some worms!

We then made a cover so the worms could be in darkness. We also placed some leaves as a top layer.  We will now observe the worms over a period of weeks to see what happens.

Here are some of our finished 3D flies!
