Class four took advantage of the nice weather this week by taking chalk and shaving foam outside to practice our spelling words.
It was a little bit breezy and messy but great fun!!
We were lucky enough to get a visit from the Coastguard on Wednesday afternoon. Ron and Ian from the Coastguard came to tell us how to stay safe at the water and what to do if we did find an emergency situation. We were shown around the special Coastguard vehicle and shown what various parts of the vehicle are used for.
We were then able to put on some of the Coastguard uniforms to take part in a 'story'. Two of our friends were stuck on a rock when the tide came in at the beach. We had to work as a team to rescue them safely without injuring ourselves.
We then swapped over so the other group could have a turn too.
Meanwhile, the other group were inside with Ian learning what to do if we came across an emergency. We learnt about things we can do to be safe during bag the bruck and we were shown things we should be careful with if we find them at the beach. We also learnt the phonetic alphabet which is used by the Coastguard to help communicate with other people.
We have spent our topic time this week using technology. We have begun taking 'stills' (photos) of our scenes which will eventually be made into our animations using a computer programme. We are looking forward to finishing our animations over the next week and plan to have an animations premier shortly.
